Understand Your Metricon
Metricon is a set of precision calculators, free to use, with nothing to install and nothing to sign in to. Open a tool, enter your numbers, get an answer — that’s the whole interaction.
They’re grouped into four areas: procurement (TCO, EOQ, should-cost modelling, supplier scoring), brand and application (dilution, usage, coverage, cost per use, dosage), chemistry and lab (molarity, pH, concentration, specific gravity, purity), and risk (single-source exposure, disruption cost, FX exposure).
Every calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is stored, nothing is sent anywhere.
That last point is worth sitting with: close the tab, and your inputs are gone. There’s no account, no saved history, no data leaving your device. It’s built that way on purpose — these are working tools, not a tracking system.
The one most people reach for first is the Dilution Calculator — useful when you need an exact working-solution ratio beyond what’s printed on a can. The Usage Calculator and Coverage Calculator are the next most common, for forecasting consumption and avoiding over-ordering — see the usage guide for picking the right product in the first place.
The formulas behind every tool are industry-standard — Wilson’s EOQ model, Henderson-Hasselbalch for pH, HHI for spend concentration, and so on. Results are meant to support a decision, not replace judgment where it genuinely matters.
If a number from Metricon doesn’t match what you expected, double-check the inputs first — the formulas are fixed, so the variance is almost always upstream of the calculator.
